While most people head for the beach in summer, Jack heads for the cemetery. Jack is an alcoholic ex-Guard with a deadly sense of humour and a love of books that almost redeems his sarcasm. Ken, in your own words, please tell us who is ‘Jack Taylor’? We caught up with Ken and briefly chatted about the success of the TV series and his writing. Taylor is a bloody-minded boozer who is not afraid to use his fists in his fight for justice and he is compelled to defend the lost and the broken.

His protagonist, private detective Taylor, is a flawed but loveable character who takes on cases that the Gardaí won’t. The series is set in ruggedly beautiful Galway and is based on the novels of Galwegian writer Ken Bruen. The TV film series Jack Taylor follows ex-garda turned private detective Taylor and is proving a big hit with both UK and Irish audiences.
